The Wokingham District Veteran Tree Survey aims to map as many veteran and significant trees as possible in Wokingham Borough and the immediate surrounding area. The survey is carried out by trained volunteers led by a town or parish coordinator. The data collected is recorded in a database maintained by WDVTA and also distributed to regional and national environmental databases.
Please note that nothing on this page will work unless javascript is enabled. If using Internet Explorer you must use at least version 6. If you get an alert line at the top of the display area then you must click this and enable active content, otherwise no details will be available.

The following map shows the Wokingham area and can be used to see a subset of the data held for all the trees currently mapped. Once the map has loaded, the controls allow you to zoom in and out and move the map around. You can also show aerial photos overlaid with the map using the Hybrid button.
To show all the trees in the database, click the "Show All Trees" button. Depending upon the speed of your computer this may take a number of minutes.
To show the trees in a specific parish, select the parish from the drop list and click the "Show Parish Trees" button. Depending upon the number of trees registered in that parish this may take anything from a few seconds to about a minute.
To find a specific tree where you know the database Master Record Number, enter the number in the "Search for Tree:" box and click the "Find Tree" button. This will add that tree to the map and zoom the map to show that tree's location.
To remove all the trees from the map simply refresh the page or use the "Remove All Trees" button.
The actual location of each tree corresponds to the point at the bottom of the tree icon. Clicking on a tree icon will bring up a brief summary of the data on that tree. If trees are close together it may be necessary to zoom in to separate them. Where photographs are available a Photos link will be shown which can be used to display that tree's photos in a separate window.
