Berkshire Local Nature Partnership AGM

The Berkshire Local Nature Partnership held its AGM at the TVERC Autumn conference Oracle, Reading, on Saturday 28th September.  The current chair of the Berkshire LNP, Dan Carpenter, gave an update on the activities of the LNP over the preceding 12 months.  This year has been one of consolidation, with TVERC continuing to provide a secretariat and the LNP members focused on establishing the key activities that the LNP should be pursuing.  The LNP updated its standard planning response in light of updates to the National Planning Policy Framework and this has now been sent as part of various consultations, including consultation on the Heathrow Expansion and Local Plan consultations for Bracknell Forest and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

The focus for the coming year for the LNP is on identifying a Nature Recovery Network for Berkshire.  At the TVERC conference, the LNP led a session on identifying aims for such a network.  This involved answering questions of the priorities for nature’s recovery in Berkshire, what assets are most important and what the ambition for an NRN in Berkshire should be.  Further work on a NRN for Berkshire will be forthcoming, and the LNP encourages everybody to engage with the process to ensure receibing/hearing the widest number of voices on nature’s recovery.
