The Oxford Swift City Project Reaches 100 Swift Boxes Logged!

Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) funding for the Oxford Swift City Project may have ceased, but the project is still very much alive. A community group has been formed to continue the good work and has recruited more than thirty volunteers who will be carrying out swift surveys throughout the city this summer. The project has also distributed more than 300 swift boxes to companies, institutions, community groups and individuals in the city and TVERC has been busy recording their locations as they are installed along with other swift boxes that have already been put up around the city. This week we logged our 100th box, quite a milestone.

If you know of any swift boxes in the city, please let us know (tverc@oxfordshire.gov.uk) and we will add them to our database. We just need to know the address of the building they are located on. In future years the database will become an important resource for monitoring the nesting of these iconic summer visitors.
