Team update

We’re excited to welcome several new members to the TVERC team, each bringing valuable skills and passion to our mission of supporting biodiversity and ecological data across the region.

Laura Doughty joined us in March as our new Ecology Manager.  She brings a strong background in ecological data management and biodiversity conservation, having worked on projects focused on sustainable land use, nature recovery, and Nature-based Solutions. Laura brings experience in managing and analysing ecological data using GIS and spatial modelling, supporting evidence-based decision-making for conservation strategies. Her work has included delivering international programmes, often in collaboration with local authorities and stakeholders. Alongside technical skills, Laura has supported the coordination of multidisciplinary teams and the effective delivery of projects that align with biodiversity and climate resilience goals.

Katharine joined us in April as our Biodiversity Data Officer. She joins us from the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, where she undertook the Ancient Woodland Inventory update and a habitat survey project across Cambridgeshire. She initially came to environmental records via an unusual combination of zoo archive research and processing ballet exam results but also credits a love of the outdoors and tidy datasets. Katharine enjoys hiking and will always agree to cake.

Also joining in April Siobhan Edney, who has taken on the role of Biodiversity Data Assistant. Siobhan holds a BSc degree in Geography and a MSc masters in Conservation Biology. When she graduated, she volunteered in Wales looking at seagrass ecology and marine mammals. Siobhan spent four and a half years at NERC/UKCEH as an ecologist and project support, followed by nearly two years at the Environment Agency as a freshwater ecologist, where she specialised in identifying freshwater invertebrates in the laboratory. Outside of work, she enjoys walking, running, and photography, and is excited to continue her journey in ecology with TVERC.
